Welcome to your 2018-2019 Homecoming Week! Whether it’s your first or last IMSA Homecoming, this week is bound to be full of exciting and memorable events. The week kicked off with a midday opening ceremony, a Kahoot game, and a crowd favorite: Meet Your Match!<\/p>\n
Campus Activities Board has worked tirelessly to put this week together for the campus, but they haven’ t let their stress get to them. Amy Guo (’19) <\/strong>stated that “it’s been really fun because I feel like our class is so much more united this year, and we’re going to win. Class of 2019 all the way!”<\/p>\n Throughout the day, you might have seen a few meme look-a-likes walking around. Notable costumes included Peppa Pig, yodeling kid, Arthur, Kermit, and more! IMSA’s campus was more meme-filled than normal, and, although not many people chose to dress up, the people who did brought plenty of laughs along with them. <\/p>\n As a start to the week, CAB released the first of many riddles, part of a week-long event. The PowerPoint slide, released around 8 AM, had some useless information, a misleading answer, and three puzzles. The seniors, who submitted their answer before 2nd mod began, won Monday’s riddle, followed by the juniors and then the sophomores. <\/p>\n At midday, the classes came together for the first gathered event of the week. The masquerade themed Kahoot game stumped the sophomores, leaving them in 3rd place. The juniors made the leaderboard, with one of them pulling out a second place finish. However, neither class could match the class of 2019 which dominated the leaderboard. They clumped together and worked as a team to take 1st place and 3rd-5th place. <\/p>\n This year, CAB ran Meet Your Match differently by allowing people to enter their bids to become a contestant in this year’s show. Devraj Thakkar (’21)<\/strong> shared, “I saw a form, and I was like, this is a perfect opportunity to exercise my humor, so I was like, alright, let’s make other people laugh!” Neil John (’19), <\/strong>another contestant, “feels excited about this” and he thinks that “when people see [the video] they’re really going to want to stop being friends with me.”<\/p>\n Finally, the day culminated with an exciting night event. Meet Your Match was full of funny contestant introductions, deceiving questions, and prizes. The first contestant, Francesca Dumitrescu’s (’21)<\/strong>, questions ended in her roommate, Shriya Gandhi (’21). Astha Patel (’19) <\/strong>got a date with Devraj Thakkar<\/strong> by using her cleverness to win him over with a pun. After a long bout of tiebreaker questions, Eliza Apavaloaiei (’20) <\/strong>discovered her blind date was Shruti Shaktivel (’20)<\/strong>. After an iconic video, Luke Milavec (’20)’s <\/strong>search for a match ended with a win for Eliot Smith. One of Cassandra Kuissi (’19)’s <\/strong>good friends, Aleah Brown<\/strong> (’19)<\/strong> won a date with her, and lastly, Neil John <\/strong>found himself paired with Charline Rivera (’21)<\/strong> after a couple of sassy answers.
