After a Fox News banner called three Central American countries — Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala — \u201cMexican,\u201d the three countries made an official move to form the Mexican Consortium. Two days after its founding, the Mexican Consortium had gained members from all across Latin America. Today, the only Latin American country who is not a member is, ironically, Mexico itself, who was \u201cskeptical about the whole affair.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

When questioned about the purpose of the organization, one Mexican Consortium spokesperson explained, \u201cas Central American countries, we realize that the only way we are going to get any attention at all in North America is to tell them we\u2019re Mexican.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDoesn\u2019t the U.S.\u2019s current administration view Mexico negatively? Isn\u2019t it bad press?\u201d the reporter responded.<\/span><\/p>\n

The spokesperson shook her head, astonished by the reporter\u2019s na\u00efvet\u00e9. \u201cDon\u2019t you understand? The U.S. is obsessed with Mexico. They think Mexico has taken over all of the Americas south of themselves. Donald Trump can\u2019t stop talking about Mexico. We\u2019re just trying to get a little piece of that pie.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In pursuit of that goal, the Mexican Consortium has been fast-acting. They have already gotten Fox News to apologize for their mistake in correcting themselves in the first place. \u201cIt is hard to believe that the U.S. would be so ignorant of the Mexican Consortium\u2019s existence,\u201d the official letter to Fox News reads. \u201cIn your apology for calling Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala Mexican<\/em>, you corrected yourself to Central American<\/em>. However, we\u2019d like to inform you that the correct term of address is, in fact, Mexican, and we expect to be addressed as such in the future. Signed, the 32 Mexican Countries of the Mexican Consortium.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

While the Mexican Consortium\u2019s next steps are currently unknown, it is likely that they will continue to be effective in accomplishing whatever they wish, and the world will probably see them as a major player on the global stage in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
