The performance was Friday, February 27th, and Saturday, February 28th. Tech week this year was during a Hell Week (Friday I-Day), so along with long practices, participants had numerous assignments and assessments to worry about. Regardless, the As\u00e9 Awards came together beautifully!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There were ten dances in total:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sophomore<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kiganda<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Junior<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lindy Hop<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Step<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Majorette<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Senior<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">African<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Board Dance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Modern<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Additionally, there were five other performances:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Black National Anthem<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fashion Show<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOscar Winning Tears\u201d by RAYE<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cLovin\u2019 You\u201d by Minnie Riperton<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In Da Classroom<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To lead up to the show, BSU organized several events:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Midday Jeopardy<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">S&amp;E Games<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Midday Karaoke\/Freestyle Event<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Midday Pictures<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Each day had their own dressup theme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The show\u2019s theme was a play on the Grammy Awards. At the end of each act, the choreographers went up to accept an award and give a small speech. The dances were filled with energy and thoroughly captured the audience! On Friday, audience members were able to participate in In Da Classroom, which can easily be played outside of the show. The Fashion Show was also unique and exciting!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The As\u00e9 Awards was a blast to attend! African and Modern were especially captivating because of their high energy and intense dances. My personal favorite was Lindy Hop because it felt very Hollywood-style.
