Already, students have wet their feet if not entirely cannon-balled into second semester, finding that <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.imsa.edu\/acronym\/2013\/01\/16\/how-to-memorize-effectively\/\">memorizing effectively <\/a>might just come in handy, perhaps wishing for <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.imsa.edu\/acronym\/2013\/01\/08\/blind-grading\/\">blind grading<\/a> this semester,\u00a0 or discovering that IMSA really does live up to its name of <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.imsa.edu\/acronym\/2013\/01\/14\/illinois-malnutrition-and-sleep-deprivation-academy-revisited\/\">&#8216;Illinois Malnutrition and Sleep Deprivation Academy.&#8217;<\/a> Beyond academics, the fitness center has observed a full attendance of students diligently following their <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.imsa.edu\/acronym\/2013\/01\/08\/whats-the-point\/\">New Years&#8217; resolution<\/a>. It&#8217;s a new semester &#8212;\u00a0 a new year.<\/p>\n<p>So what does the near future have in store for us?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>StudCo&#8217;s Last Lecture series feat. Dr. Kiely<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students have the opportunity to hear anecdotes, advice, and life lessons from Dr. Kiely at his Last Lecture. IMSA students have seen\u00a0<em>Les Phys<\/em> &#8211; or are planning to do so. Physics teacher Dr. Dong&#8217;s senior thesis is a musical about physics, an interesting combination that students will surely enjoy watching and critiquing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When: Thursday, January 17, 7:00PM<\/li>\n<li>Where: Pearson Lecture Hall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>An Arabian Nights&#8217; Winter Formal<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s Winter Formal takes on the exotic with the theme of Arabian Nights. Organized as a collaboration between Junior and Senior Class Club, the dance will cleanly wrap up students&#8217; first true school week of the second semester with music, dancing, and relaxation.<\/p>\n<p>***Tickets will be sold throughout the week of January 14-18 and will be available at the door as well.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When: Friday, January 18, 8:30-11:00PM<\/li>\n<li>Where: Old Caf<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.imsa.edu\/acronym\/2013\/01\/17\/5-things-to-look-forward-to-this-january\/36kthn-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8573\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8573 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.imsa.edu\/acronym\/files\/2013\/01\/36kthn1-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"310\" height=\"172\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0SAT Testing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To the\u00a0amusement of Collegeboard (and excitement of its wallet) and to the anguish of most high school juniors, the season of standardized testing has begun. Despite their nervousness, many students have not forgotten that Collegeboard was so cordial as to supply a variety of different exams from the mandatory SAT general test to the almost rainbow-like array of subject tests to, finally, May AP testing. Looks like IMSA&#8217;s juniors will be busy this semester testing them all out!!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When: Saturday, January 27 (next national testing date)<\/li>\n<li>Where: IMSA and other locations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>ASIA&#8217;s Lunar New Year show<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interested in Asian pop songs, explosive choreography, traditional music, or, oh, a combination? ASIA&#8217;s Lunar New Year (LNY) show has you covered!
