{"id":9378,"date":"2013-03-11T12:04:36","date_gmt":"2013-03-11T12:04:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.imsa.edu\/acronym\/?p=9378"},"modified":"2013-03-13T05:59:56","modified_gmt":"2013-03-13T05:59:56","slug":"interview-with-dr-mcgee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.imsa.edu\/acronym\/2013\/03\/11\/interview-with-dr-mcgee\/","title":{"rendered":"Interview with Dr. McGee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By: Summer Wu, Co-Editor-in-Chief<\/p>\n<p>In an e-mail sent to the IMSA community on February 27th, President Dr. McGee made\u00a0an unexpected announcement: &#8220;I will be moving on along with our magnificent seniors as today I announced my retirement effective June 30, 2013.&#8221;\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: large\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Interview with Dr. McGee\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kppEI0pV4Xo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Some became somber, others were confused, and everyone was shocked. To find out more, Acronym conducted an interview and asked him the following questions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">I know that a lot of students, staff, and other members of the IMSA community are very sad and surprised to see you go- in your e-mail you mentioned personal and family reasons- if you&#8217;re at the liberty to share with us, is it possible for you to tell us a little bit more? (00:18)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>You obviously have a huge presence on campus, and without you here, there&#8217;s going to be a noticeable difference. I&#8217;ve spoken with many students, but I&#8217;ve also spoken with faculty members, and it seems that everyone is a little uncertain about change. What are your plans to reduce the unease of the faculty and staff?\u00a0(1:23)<\/li>\n<li>What characteristics do you think would be important for the next President to have? (2:52)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">IMSA&#8217;s a place for building future leaders, and you&#8217;re evidently one of the best examples of a leader. If an IMSA student were to one day be in your place, a President of a unique school like this, what advice would you give them? (5:34)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>What do you see as your greatest strength and what do you see as your greatest weakness? (8:03)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">Is there any decision you made at IMSA that looking back, you wish you could change? (9:08)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">If you could travel anywhere in a time machine, where would you go? (10:51)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>At (12:15) Dr. McGee concludes with a personal message for the IMSA community; can you guess what he wants to say?
