Unit Objectives

TIME:  4 weeks

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • ask and answer questions about what you eat and drink in general.
  • explain what you do and do not eat in general.
  • ask and answer questions about when you eat breakfast, lunch, and supper—in general.
  • ask and answer questions about when you ate or will eat breakfast, lunch and supper.
  • ask and answer questions about what you ate in the past.
  • ask and answer questions about what you will in the future.
  • ask and answer questions about what foods and drinks you like or don’t like.
  • express your likes and dislikes in varying degrees (a lot, a little, not at all, etc.).
  • ask and answer questions about your favorite food and drink.
  • write any of those questions and answers.

By the end of this unit, you will have learned:

  • how to use two transitive action verbs—to eat & to drink.
  • how to write the Chinese characters for those two verbs.
  • more hiragana symbols.
  • how to use another postpositional case–marking particle for marking the direct object.
  • at least 25 food and drink vocabulary items.
  • how to express your feelings or opinions about food.
