Learn More About Nelson Mandela in the IRC


Connie James-Jenkin, IRC Collection Development and Reference Librarian, has put a variety of material about Nelson Mandela on display in the IRC near the Reference Desk.

“As we all reflect on the the importance of Nelson Mandela to South Africa and the world, we may want to learn more about this great man through his own words and writings,” wrote Connie in an email message about the new display.

The following are among the selection of materials in the IRC:

  • His 2012 title Notes to the Future
  • Nelson Mandela: In His Own Words (published in 2003)
  • His 1995 memoir Long Walk to Freedom
  • His 1986 title The Struggle Is My Life
  • Prisoner in the Garden: Photos, Letters & Notes from Nelson Mandela’s 27 Years in Prison
