NEW IRC DATABASE HELPS STUDENTS WITH AP, ACT AND SAT TESTS

A new database from Gale Cengage, Testing & Education Reference Center, is now available through the IRC. This database focuses on ACT, SAT, SAT subject tests and AP tests and students who access the website can study for any or all of these tests with study manuals and practice exams.

“This is the place to go to take practice tests,” said Connie James-Jenkin, IRC Collection Development and Reference Librarian.

The Testing & Education Reference Center database URL is: http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/imsa_main?db=TERC

After logging on, students will find AP tests located under the “High School Tools” tab and ACT/SAT are located under the “College Prep” tab. Connie stressed that there are two listings for SAT: the main listing and one focusing on specific subjects.

“Students can create their own account on the database website to track their progress. It’s free to create an account,” said Connie.

Connie chose this database because it has the largest selection of AP tests. She expects the database will have different uses at different times of the year because of the test schedules.

Although it’s almost time for the AP tests, students have time to access the database and study before taking AP tests. The IRC will continue to purchase the study manuals, but students can now access practice tests and manuals on the Testing & Education Reference Center website and study even if the manuals are all checked out of the IRC.

“This database provides 24/7 access for students,” said Connnie.
