Summer is approaching, which means we are (hopefully) going to have eternal sunshine instead of gray, cloudy skies! As we look forward to brighter days ahead, our four octave queen Ariana Grande has released new tracks to eternal sunshine, her album that released on March 8, 2024. The deluxe album, titled eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead, has six tracks to binge listen to! In this article, I give my opinion and rating on the songs.

“intro (end of the world) – extended”

The beginning of the song starts off just like the original “Intro (end of the world)” song. However, the second half of the song is the extended part, and in my opinion, I think it’s very unnecessary. It feels very dragged out, and I personally preferred the original “Intro (end of the world).” While I liked the second half by itself, it didn’t feel like it belonged to the extended version. Overall, I’d rate it a 6/10.

“twilight zone”

I really enjoyed listening to this track! I think that it has a unique vibe, and the title “twilight zone” is really fitting for it. The song feels very ethereal, and would be a good listen for studying. The beat feels a bit like “Save your Tears,” but the backing vocals really make the song stand out. This track was probably my favorite out of the six ones released, and I would give it a 10/10.

“warm”

I didn’t really like the introduction of this song, but I thoroughly enjoyed the chorus! It has that same feathery and ethereal feel that “twilight zone” had which I appreciated. I personally didn’t really like the melody in the verses or the bridge much. They weren’t bad, I just didn’t appreciate them as much as I did the chorus. If you enjoyed listening to “don’t wanna break up again” from eternal sunshine, then you’ll definitely like this song! I’d give it an 8/10.

“dandelion”

This track does something unique, and starts off with a French horn solo. The solo felt very jazzy, and while I enjoyed the solo by itself, it didn’t really work with the beat and the vocals. Overall, I didn’t enjoy the song as much as I did the other six songs, and it was my least favorite. The brass elements in the background along with the bass in the background didn’t feel cohesive to me. I’d give this song a 4/10

“past life”

This song has some strings in the background, and I slightly preferred them over the brass in “dandelion.” However, I didn’t like the melody very much, and it didn’t feel very unique. The strings felt out of place, and overall the whole song didn’t feel cohesive. When Grande starts singing, it starts off strong, but as the song progresses, it’s not something that I’d listen to regularly. I’d give the song a 5/10.

“Hampstead”

The piano at the beginning of the song is very fitting, and adds a nice touch. This song feels very sentimental, and Grande’s voice fits nicely with the piano. If you enjoyed “imperfect for you” then you’ll definitely like “Hampstead.” The distortion of the piano is a nice effect, and the bass added towards the middle of the song is also very cool! I would give this song a 9/10.

Overall, Ariana Grande’s deluxe album is a banger, and in my opinion, it’s very worthwhile giving it a listen! “twilight zone” and “warm” are both very fitting for this upcoming summer. Get some sunshine and touch some grass during summer break!
