The IMSA Student Leaders: Anabel Rivera (’16)

As a devoted cello player, Anabel is the vice-president of the Aspiring Artists’ Sinfonia:

Why did you want to apply to IMSA? What did you expect it to be like?

“I’ve known about IMSA ever since I was in second grade–I was always going to the summer camps the Academy organizes. I remember that the IMSA kids were very good counselors, and I wanted to be just like them. That’s why I came to IMSA, for the people.”

Now that you actually got into IMSA, did it meet your expectations?

“Yeah, I’d say the people here are all interesting, though I had to get used to being away from home. “

What was your most memorable experience at IMSA?

“Clash. It was this time where these seniors who were all great leaders took charge and arranged the events. I really bonded with my hall.”

What advice would you give to incoming sophomores?

“Come to IMSA with an open mind. Be prepared to explore every bit of it. It’s not what you think it is.”

Do you have any Life Hacks? What do you do to keep organized?

“I use a planner. I find the computer too hard to lug around.”
