Are you lacking some good study music? Have you been scouring the internet for good study playlists? Then look no further than wave to earth’s new album: play with earth!0.03. This album is filled with bright, calming songs to keep your mind focused and relaxed, so you don’t have to overthink when it comes down to the wire to finish that essay due at 11:59 pm!

For those of you who haven’t heard of the gem that is wave to earth, they are a South Korean indie rock band that made songs “love.” and “bad.” Both of which have a very nostalgic, sad vibe to them. If you’re a fan of Laufey, HYBS, Beabadoobee, or Mitski, you should definitely give wave to earth a listen! Here is my review of each song on play with earth!0.03.

are you bored?

This song has a very beach-day-esque vibe. It’s very smooth, decently paced, and alleviating! The song doesn’t have any lyrics, so if you’re someone who doesn’t prefer music with words or are looking for a song to add to your lofi playlist, then this is the song for you! In addition, “are you bored?” is a great opening song to the album—not too upbeat and unique, but not too slow and lethargic. I’d give this song a 7/10 by itself and a 9.5/10 for studying.

play with earth!

This song is slightly more upbeat than the first song and also has lyrics. It’s energetic, brings good vibes, and has a sort of young feeling to it. For some, this song is just what they may need in the background to get their work done, but for others, it may be too distracting to lock in with. The upbeatness of the chorus brings the dynamic youthfulness to the song. I’d give it an 8/10 by itself, but only a 6/10 for studying.

annie.

The piano solo at the beginning of the song sets the relaxed and calm mood for the rest of the song. However, while the beginning of the song is quiet and simple, it builds up to a more lively and spirited chorus. Out of all the songs on the album, this song and “pueblo-remastered 2024” have to be my favorites! The catchy tune and rhythm of the song are head-nod worthy and easily a 10/10 for listening and studying!

pueblo – remastered 2024

As mentioned above, this song is easily one of my favorites on the album. It starts off strong and then transitions to a smoother, mellower tune. Compared to the original “pueblo,” the remastered version is infinitely better. The newer and more refined quality the remastered version has is what makes it so much better. This song may not be at the top of the list study music wise, but it gets a 10/10 for listening. Unfortunately, for studying, it gets a 7/10.

beck.

This song has elements of the previous songs in it, but by itself, it’s very unique! Just like most of the songs on the album, it has a calming “beach day-esque” vibe. If you’re someone who can read a book while listening to music, then I highly recommend this song while reading! Not only is it a good song to unwind to, but it can also cheer you up if you’re not feeling well or bring good vibes to your studying. Overall, I’d give “beck.” a 9/10 for listening and a 9/10 for studying.

slow dive

“slow dive” has a “background music” feel to it. While it’s not necessarily a bad song, it’s not one I’d say has much to offer. In terms of study music, I’d say because you can leave it on in the background and get work done, it’s a 10/10. In terms of the lyricism, I find the line “The sky and the ocean trading their shades” to be very poetic and thoughtful. Despite this, in terms of listening experience, I’d give this song a 5/10

holyland

This song is very serenade-like. Like a ballad of sorts. The slow romantic beat of the song makes a perfect song to end on, as well as a perfect song to listen to in your feelings. If you’re a fan of romantic songs, then this is the song for you! I would give listening to this an 8/10 and studying to it a 10/10.

Overall, this album is pretty good. If you are familiar with the popularized songs “love.” and “bad,” then you will 100% like this album. So, if you’re feeling in a rut in terms of your musical taste or want to broaden your horizons, I‘d suggest you listen to this album!
