The leaves are changing color, the days are getting shorter, and the air outside is getting colder, and you know what that means… it’s getting closer and closer to Halloween! :^D Although Halloween may not be the #1 thing on our minds right now, here are a few ways to get into a ~spooky~ mood.
1. Listen to some Halloween tunes. Here’s a playlist of some classic spooky songs that you can listen to while doing work, walking to class, or anything in between! (Fun fact: The song “Uma Thurman” by Fall Out Boy uses samples from The Munsters theme so if it sounds familiar, that’s why!)
2. Watch a Halloween movie! There are plenty of great Halloween movies out there, but if you’re unsure what to watch, here are some suggestions! If you want something light-hearted, but still Halloween-related, watch:
- the “Scary Movie” series
- “The Halloween Tree”
- “Hocus Pocus”
- or “Shaun of the Dead”
If you’re looking for something slightly spooky, watch:
- “Coraline”
- “Monster House”
- “The Sixth Sense”
- or “Before I Wake”
If you’re looking for something ~SPOOKY~, watch:
- “The Conjuring”
- or “The Ring” (viewer discretion advised for both!)
3. Watch a Halloween-themed episode of your favorite TV show. Watching an episode of Halloween-themed TV is another great way to get into the spooky Halloween mood, especially since it requires less time than watching a movie! Disney and Nickelodeon have some great episodes, such as:
- “The Ghost in Suite 613” from “The Suite Life of Zack And Cody” (S1 E19)
- “Don’t Have a Cow” from “That’s So Raven” (S2 E2)
- “The Monster of Phinesas-n-Ferbenstein” from “Phineas and Ferb” (S1 E22)
- and “iScream on Halloween” from iCarly (S1 E7)
Netflix also has a few, such as:
- “The One with the Halloween Party” from “Friends” (S8 E6)
- “Too Old to Trick or Treat, Too Young to Die” from “That 70’s Show” (S3 E4)
- “The Rocky Horror Glee Show” from “Glee” (S2 E5)
- and “Halloween” from “The Office” (S2 E5)
4. Decorate your dorm room with some DIY crafts. There are plenty of ways to spice up your room without having to spend any money! Get some butcher paper from 1508 and draw some paper pumpkins and ghosts for your walls, go to Open Studios on Thursdays to paint/draw some scary decorations, or paint a miniature pumpkin at Pumpkinpalooza!
