It is no secret that Sodexo is a daily experience for every IMSA student. From the muffins of Grab N’ Go to the classic pasta and marinara sauce combo at dinner, Sodexo is a surefire way to get in a great meal before taking on the day’s challenges. That being said, sometimes these meals can feel a bit monotonous as they are served on a consistent basis without much variation. However, have no fear! Here to help you spice your day up are 4 ways to transform your daily Sodexo meal into a world-class gourmet bite!

  1. Cheesy Fries

This meal is one of the easiest to make. Simply ask for fries in the grill section, place any type of cheese on top of the fires (preferably two slices of your favorite cheese), warm for 30 seconds in the microwave, and enjoy. Cheesy Fries have been a go-to gourmet meal for many IMSA students in the past, and it’s a classic that can’t be forgotten once it’s made.

  1. Cheesy Baguette Sandwich

Originally inspired by Jay Dong (’20), this meal has surged in popularity amongst the IMSA population in the past year. The original recipe requires one to get a baguette with pepper jack cheese from the deli line. Then, simply heat the cheese-coated baguette for 30 seconds in the microwave. Since then, many variations have popped up to put a unique twist on the Cheesy Baguette Sandwich. For instance, my personal favorite includes heating up the Cheesy Baguette Sandwich with fresh tomatoes from the salad bar and chicken strips, which are cut from the chicken breasts available in the grill line.

  1. Root Beer Floats

Moving on to desserts, an IMSA favorite among many students are root beer floats. Just like a classic root beer float, first fill your cup about a fourth of the way up with vanilla ice cream from the ice cream machine. Then, fill the rest of your cup with root beer. One way to add your own personal touch to the root beer float is choosing different flavors of ice cream or a different type of soda to go with the ice cream. However, this dessert can be difficult to make at times due to the limited availability of the ice cream machine.

  1. Ice Cream Sundae

Who wants to eat just plain ice cream? Take a new spin on Sodexo ice cream and make a whole sundae out of just a few ingredients. First, choose any flavor of ice cream of your preference. Then, add some crunch to your sundae with Cheerios from the cereal line or granola crumbs from the salad bar. Finally, add some fresh fruit, such as strawberries, to the mix and now you have a fresh ice cream sundae! But, for the same reason as the root beer floats, this food can be a bit challenging to make at times.

These are just a couple of gourmet meals that can be made with classic meals from Sodexo and many variations can be made to these meals to make them your own. Stay fresh and happy munchin’!
