Netflix’s Conquest Director’s $27 Million Dogecoin Gamble

Netflix Director Uses $4M of Show's Budget on Dogecoin, Netting Mass Profits | IGN

You might be wondering, who is Carl Erik Rinsch? To answer your question, Carl is the director of the Conquest series, one of Netflix’s most anticipated sci-fi series. However, it has been in a turn of events (not for the best). Carl took out $4 million from the $55 million budget that conquest had and put it into Dogecoin. Dogecoin is a highly well-known and trending meme coin (a type of crypto). To no one’s expectations, Rinsch’s $4 million investment into Dogecoin multiplied by 7.75, bringing the invested $4 million into a whopping $31 million. This gave Rinsch a staggering $27 million. Even with this money, Rinsch has now been looking for another $14 million through a private legal process. This acted as another layer to the existing drama surrounding Conquest.

In March 2020, Conquest had a $44 million budget. However, this wasn’t enough for Rinsch and he seeked more money. Netflix had agreed to give him an additional $11 million if he finished the series. To no one’s avail, Rinsch invested $10.5 million of the show’s budget into the stock market. This was extremely unsuccessful as he ended up losing $6 million. With the remaining $4 million, he invested it into Dogecoin. As we know now, he amassed big profits, and eventually secured them after selling the shares in May 2021.

With the $27 million dollars, Rinsch went on a shopping spree. It’s said that he spent somewhere around $9 million on luxury purchases. His purchases included designer clothing, a $300k watch, a Rolls-Royce, and a Ferrari. The purchases were revealed to the public during Rinsch’s divorce proceedings. This action placed light on Rinsch’s luxurious lifestyle.

Afterwards, Rinsch took legal action against Netflix. He claimed that Netflix hadn’t followed their agreement and that he should receive $14 million in damages. Netflix denied any wrongdoings and responded by saying that Rinsch was trying to get more money. This critical dispute between Rinsch and Netflix added another level of complexity to the fate of Conquest, which lies between the decisions that Rinsch and Netflix make.

Conquest has yet to release its episodes, as it remains tangled in the financial drama caused by Rinsch’s actions. This tough situation has left Netflix and its audience in suspense, as the legal proceedings may and will affect the show’s production and release.
