IRC offers students quick IM/Chat Help Service

Library-1024x486

The new IM shows a chat box right on the IMSA IRC page.

IMSA has gone through many changes since the end of the last academic year. One of the additions includes the IM/Chat Help Service offered online on the IRC Website. Students can use the chat box to instant message a librarian for help with research, formatting citations, and more. The handy facility now allows students to get virtual help from anywhere on campus or even off. Not only that, but  the service is open to faculty and staff as well.

“Our goal is to help students and staff/faculty in any way that is most comfortable for them: in person, or online” says librarian Connie James-Jenkin. The IM/Chat Help Service is available any time the library is open.

If the librarians are unavailable, a message will appear reporting their absence. In addition to the Chat Help Service, there is an option to email them at irc@imsa.edu.

Interested in taking advantage of the help service? The chat boxes can be found at the bottom of the IMSA IRC homepage (http://staff.imsa.edu/irc/), on the course/assignment specific research guide (http://ircguids.imsa.edu/) and embedded in the IMSA IRC catalog (http://imsa.summon.serialssolutions.com/search).

Check it out, it’s amazing!
